The Continuing Saga of James "Jimmy Rock" Rogers

Marie Scappelli (Jimm'ys Girlfriend)

Marie Scappelli catches the immediate attention of Jimmy Rogers that first time Jimmy saw her at Professor Remember’s Roadhouse & Bakery Cafe. It was right after Jimmy’s triumphant debut performing at the High School dance. Jimmy played guitar and sang “Can’t Stop It” with backing by his cousin David Perkins’ band “The Rhythm Kings”

“Can’t Stop It” was the first song Jimmy wrote and it’s the title to the first movie depicting the life and times of Jimmy Rogers.

Jimmy wrote the song “Lickity Split” on a napkin at the Professor’s minutes after he saw Marie. It’s a good description of the impact Marie had on Jimmy.

The movie, “Can’t Stop It” is based on actual events. If you would like to be considered for one of the fifty roles in the movie, work behind the cameras, or provide a product or service to the production company please tell us here.

After the High School dance, Jimmy, all “The Rhythm Kings” band members and their girlfriends go to Professor Remembers for burgers and shakes. When Jimmy saw Marie Scappelli for the first time, he could hardly speak.

Waitress Pat was trying to take Jimmy’s order. He said: “I’ll have The Professor’s jumbo burger, fries and a mocha…”   Jimmy stopped mid-sentence.  Marie walked past his table and sat down alone.  Jimmy can’t take his eyes off this beautiful girl.

Up to this point in the movie, Jimmy is the only one that hasn’t found a girlfriend. Is Marie the one he has been waiting for.

You’ll have to see the movie to find out.

Waitress Pat is getting impatient with Jimmy, “Mocha…”, she asked. Jimmy (dazed and confused) said, “Huh?”  Waitress Pat, “Mocha what?”  Jimmy, “Whaa…Oh, mocha … malted …shake.”  Waitress Pat, “Is that everything?”  Jimmy, staring at Marie, “Sure is.”

Jimmy’s cousin David asked,You O.K. Cuz?”  Jimmy, “I…ah…ha…who is that girl?”  David, “Who?”  Jimmy, “There, behind you.”  David looks over his shoulder, “I don’t know, but I’d love…”

Cathy Carlson (David’s girlfriend) jostles David’s shoulder: “That’s Marie Scappelli, (to David, playfully) “Keep your eyes front and center Buster.”  Jimmy said: “How come I’ve never seen her?”

Cathy said: “You remember our sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. Davis?” Jimmy said: “How could I forget?” “Mrs. Davis is Marie’s grandmother”, Cathy replied. “Does Marie…Scrappedi live in Statesville?” Jimmy asked.

“Scap-pel-li”, Cathy said as she sounded out each syllable. Jimmy repeats, carefully, “Scap-pel-li”,. Cathy said, “She lives here now, at least until her folks patch things up.” Jimmy asked, “She going with anyone?”

Cathy said, “Well lickity split Jimmy; she’s only been here three days. “What did you say?”, Jimmy asked looking puzzled. “Marie and her Mom moved in with Granma three days ago”, Cathy answered.

“No, before that”, Jimmy continued. “What”, Cathy asked. “That split thing you said?” “Lickity split”, Cathy asked. “Yeah, lickity split” Jimmy repeated. “I like that”.

“It’s just an expression”, said Cathy, “like quick as a wink”. Now Jimmy is in his own world saying “Lickity split…lickity split…” and writing on a napkin.

By the time everyone is finished eating, Jimmy has written a song for Marie.  He persuades drummer Hand Jive to join him on Professor Remembers stage.  They start working out the music to Lickity Split, one of thirty-three originals songs from Can’t Stop It, the movie.

Will Jimmy’s song be enough to get Marie’s attention?

See the movie.
